Outreach
Our Mission
Yskynna-AA recognize that with outdoor work that is gifted to the public there is a psychological and sociological reach which has a different demographic to that of traditional venues and the process of buying a ticket.
By producing vertical dance within community architecture, the engagement with the space will be changed. The long-term aim is to encourage positive change in social perception.
Creating an opportunity for people to engage with an art form in an unusual setting that is out of the ‘norm’ of their usual daily experience has great value and this is what is at the heart of our work.
Updraft
‘Updraft’ is our schools project. We target young people within schools, 11-18 year olds with drive and commitment, to engage with this challenging art form and discipline. The project identifies areas with low cultural engagement in Devon and Cornwall, and brings professional demonstrations and structured teaching to encourage healthy participation.
The long term aim of the project is for these students to claim ownership of the developing skill and art form, by the schools being trained and to go on to run their own aerial training clubs.

Workshops
We offer workshops and training in vertical and bungee dance, counterbalance, fixed line and sling. We run short courses as well as one off events, at or near our base in Falmouth.
SHORT COURSES
Pre-corona virus we would usually offer Saturday courses in vertical dance, sling and counterweight at AMATA, Falmouth University. These courses are an introduction to each technique to help build strength, stamina in order to complete longer sequences of movement.
